Comic #2412

1 Young Jamie: But Star Wars - the movie - came out five years before we left our time.
2 Young Jamie: If it doesn't exist in this timeline, then the divergence point must be earlier than 1977.
3 Young Adam: Quick! Who won World War II?
3 Young Jamie: Don't be silly. Obviously the same as in our time.
4 Adam: Yeah. We probably wouldn't even be here if the Nazis had lost.

There's some sort of law of the universe, that in any time travel story, it's inevitable that Nazis will get mentioned somewhere.

Oh my...

I swear I did not know this until I did a search just now, after writing the opening sentence of this annotation...

But yes, there's a trope about it. And, what's more, that trope is even more restrictive than what I mentioned above, yet this strip still fits it.

Although, it says:

About the only time travel that doesn't result in a Nazi Victory is travelling to the future...
Ha! Well, here you go, then. Here's a counter-example.
2023-03-18 Rerun commentary: It's also a strange timeline when you have to specify "the movie" after mentioning Star Wars.
