Growing up, I'd always considered wharfs, piers, and jetties to be basically interchangeable. But checking up on the words, I now discover that they have subtly different meanings.

I was actually going to have Monty say it felt like a jetty, mostly because I like the sound of that word, but I thought I'd better use something that is technically more correct. Even if most people don't really care.
