Okay, look. I've never been to Brighton. Perhaps it's a perfectly nice place. But I have been to several seaside towns in England, and I have to say that when you come from Australia, an English beach—even in midsummer—doesn't quite live up to the expectation of hot and sunny with fine pale sand. It was June, and there were people swimming and lying on the rocky beach, but I was rugged up in a jacket to keep warm.
