That's a sound you really don't want to hear in the dark when facing someone wielding a sword.

2018-05-12 Rerun commentary: Imagine the sport of fencing. But in the dark.

Also imagine playing a roleplaying game like Dungeons & Dragons, and you're in the middle of a fight with some bad guys, swinging sword and what have you, and suddenly the area is plunged into complete darkness - either by the torches being extinguished or a magical spell. Okay, sure, this actually happens in many games, but if it hasn't happened in yours then try it sometime for extra fun!
