2019-07-14 Rerun commentary: The line in panel 3 came about because at this point in the original run of IWC, several readers were speculating on the nature of the Death organisation. They figured that I must have the details all worked out, and had only revealed small snippets of information so far, and they were trying to deduce the other rules based on what happened in the story. I believe the thing about the Deaths existing outside the normal flow of time was one such reader speculation.
