Sometimes I wonder if English has more bizarre idiomatic expressions than any other language. And then I remember some of the weird idioms I've come across in my quest to teach myself Italian. English might have the upper hand through sheer volume of vocabulary and number of far-flung speakers, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.
