Brittas Bay is a bay and its associated beach, as Bosun Higgs says, about a dozen leagues (60 km or so) south of Dublin, on the eastern coast of Ireland. According to Wikipedia it's now a popular spot for holidayers and day trippers form Dublin, although with the slower travel times in the 16th century, one assumes Higgs must have taken a longer trip.
