Romania really is vampire central. Romanian mythology is full of dozens of slight variations on vampires, all with different names.

Strigoi are just one of a list that also includes moroi, vârcolac, pricolici, nosferat, dhampir, muroni, and, if you want to go a bit broader and include less obviously vampire things with some vampire-like qualities, mora, zburător, and zmeu.

I suppose when you have a good thing going with one particular type of myth, it makes sense to mix and match and expand your product range.
