Bram Stoker's original Dracula story has three vampiric minions of Dracula, known as the Brides of Dracula. Although their origin is not explained in the novel, it is clear from Count Dracula's intentions towards Mina Harker that he can deliberately turn others into vampires under his thrall.
This is built on in the rules of Dungeons & Dragons, which explicitly gives vampires the power to turn victims into subordinate vampires who follow their orders. Additionally, vampires have the ability to charm mortals, bringing them under their hypnotic influence.
All this really would make it a lot easier to organise dates when you can get your D&D group together.
