In 1973, Domino's Pizza in the USA began offering its famous "30 minute guarantee": if you ordered a home delivered pizza, and it did not arrive within 30 minutes it would be free. In 1987 they changed the offer to $3 off the price. However following lawsuits in 1992 and 1993 where Domino's had to pay large sums in compensation for people killed and injured by speeding Domino's drivers, the company ceased offering any such rapid delivery guarantees in the USA.
However the company still offers the 30-minute guarantee in several other countries, including Colombia, Vietnam, Mexico, China, and India.
I just checked about Australia, and wildly it turns out that Domino's Australia currently offers a 20-minute guarantee. However, this is not a blanket guarantee for all orders and there are a few interesting rules. When you place an order, they use an algorithm that considers how busy the restaurant is, what traffic is currently like and how far away you live, and it only offers the guarantee if they deem it safe to deliver within that timeframe. Then you have to opt-in by paying an extra $3 on your order to activate the 20-minute guarantee.
I wonder how many customers actually qualify for this option.
