1 Lambert: I'll have five too!
2 Lambert: So, what sort of food is the speciality of these parts, my friend?
2 Innkeeper: Stew.
3 Lambert: Ah. Especially fine stew?
3 Innkeeper: It's got meat in it.
4 Lambert: I see. Particularly choice cuts, no doubt?
4 Innkeeper: It used to be alive.

2014-11-24 Rerun commentary: It's got vegetables in it too. They used to be in the ground. (Probably turnips. Medieval vegetables always seem to be turnips.*)

I like the idea that the local speciality is actually so generic and nondescript that it can be expressed in just a single word of four letters.

* Since of course all the good vegetables only came to Europe after the discovery of the Americas. Potatoes, beans, pumpkins, chili peppers, corn, tomatoes**.
