Comic #2333

1 {scene: a spaceport}
1 Serron: Here's the ship.
2 Spanners: We're going to make a living in that? We're braver than we thought.
3 Serron: Hey, it'll make point five past lightspeed.
4 Spanners: You don't even know what that means, do you?
4 Serron: And it has cupholders.

Not being American, I don't really understand the appeal or apparent American ubiquity of cup holders in vehicles.

Why are you drinking in your car anyway??

2022-07-27 Rerun commentary: When I got my current car some years ago, it came with cupholders as standard. I would quite happily have got it without, but that probably would have been more expensive. So I now have cupholders in my car. But I don't think I've ever used them.

I can't imagine sitting in my car and eating or drinking. I'd find some place outside to sit.
