I suspect almost anything would be more comfortable than the sort of undergarments women wore in those days.

2022-10-01 Rerun commentary: On the other hand, I admit I'm no expert in historical women's undergarments, so perhaps they weren't all that bad. Reasonably soft cloth might be better than stiff corsets and underwires and other stuff that women of other eras and occupations had to put up with.

But maybe I should just stop talking about this, rather than risk making ridiculously inaccurate statements about things I know very little about. (If only politicians and celebrities would do that...)
