Having too many options is terrible.

When you are restricted in your choices and have only one option for how to proceed, you simply proceed. When you need to make a choice, you can end up dithering and get nowhere.

There's an interesting classical philosophical paradox about this sort of thing, named Buridan's Ass.

2023-01-01 Rerun commentary: If stuck choosing between two equally viable options, you could always take a third option. The problem is if there's a fourth option and you end up stuck between choosing from one of the two bizarre things that nobody else would ever consider.

That's when you take a fifth option!
