I don't know if this is the case with international versions of this show, but in the Australian version, it's so screamingly obvious that the host is trying to help the contestant pick the right answer. They always immediately lock in the correct answer, but if the contestant tries to pick a wrong one, they always launch into the "are you sure?" routine. It's intriguing how this is not obvious to the contestants themselves.
