Lagos used to be the capital of Nigeria, until it was moved to the newly constructed Abuja in 1991.
It's interesting that several countries have constructed completely new cities for the specific purpose of making them capital cities, rather than just designating an existing city the capital.
That's pretty fast to build a whole city. Photos of the Nusantara area in 2022 basically show it as being just a forest. It'll be interesting to see how complete it is by the deadline.
