Comic #3647

1 Lambert: So what does this new spell do?
2 Kyros: It produces an uncomfortable sensation of heat in the subject's feet, causing them to jump and flee.
3 Lambert: Hopkins' Hot Hops. I get it.
4 Kyros: You can also use it to brew a pretty good beer.

Did you know that hops only became used for flavouring beer some time in the Middle Ages, and that before then brewers used a mixture of other semi-random herbs called gruit? Gruit beers are now seeing something of a resurgence with modern micro-breweries taking inspiration from history and local sources of herbs and flavourings.

I just learnt this myself, and am now curious to seek out and try some of these gruit beers.
