Alvissa is a very un-Tolkien-esque elf. I've just reread The Lord of the Rings, and it seems that in that the elves are all partying all night, singing songs and having archery contests and generally frolicking or whatever else they do while the hobbits just want to get a decent night's sleep.
By the way, this inn appears to be extremely well lit inside at night time.
