Yes, it's the return of the semi-omnipotent god-like alien entity known as X, who we last saw in the Cybe story arc (#3410-#3540).
I realised going back over that story that X just sort of vanishes without any fanfare or comment at the end of the arc. But I suppose that's part of his nature.
