I realise it may not be entirely clear why X would want popcorn at this juncture, for anyone who hasn't seen the relevant Star Trek episodes. Normally when a crew member and an alien are stranded on a planet by superior, semi-omnipotent aliens, for some reason they always allow the rest of the crew to watch the proceedings on their viewscreens.

I guess semi-omnipotent aliens have evolved to a state where they get all of their entertainment from reality TV.
