Comic #5163

1 Eleven: It doesn’t make any sense that there’d be lava down here.
2 Eleven: Firstly, there’s no volcanic activity anywhere near Hawkins, Indiana.
3 Eleven: Secondly, if there were lava around, this whole dungeon complex would be stiflingly hot.
4 Dustin: Magic.
4 Eleven: Does not exist!
4 Dustin: Says the wizard.

There are several classic D&D adventures with pools or lakes of lava that act as dungeon exploration hazards. In reality, you'd notice the temperature getting too hot to be comfortable way before you got close enough to the lava for it to be dangerous.

Unless you fall into it from a huge height, that is.

Mmm... there's an idea.
