Yoghurt is a fermented milk product produced by the action of bacteria of the Streptococcus and Lactobacillus genera. After production, it can either be pasteurised to kill the bacteria, or consumed with the bacterial cultures alive, often referred to as yoghurt containing active cultures. Some people like yoghurt, some people don't.

2014-08-18 Rerun commentary: The spelling of the Wikipedia page has since changed from "Yoghurt" to "Yogurt". If you want to waste several hours of your life, try reading the endless arguments over which spelling the page should use, which resulted in this article being listed under Wikipedia's lamest edit wars page.

For the record: I spell it "yoghurt", and I have two different brands of yoghurt in the fridge, and looking just now, both of them spell it "yoghurt" too.
