2012-03-09 Rerun commentary: That really is a cool plan.
This strip sounds like it might have been partly inspired by an old Far Side strip I read, something about aliens always buzzing rural yokels rather than anyone more credible. Or something. It was a long time ago.
The Martian saucer is an awesome LEGO model. I was happy to get the chance to use it in several strips over the years.
