Comic #186

1 [caption]: South America 1937
2 {Haken and Erwin cut a course through the dense foliage}
3 {Slashing at the thick plant life, they move onwards and inwards}
4 {The forest is no match for their sabres}
5 {Ever onward, they brave a path into the deepest jungle}
6 Haken: Erwin, I really don't think this is the way to the National Museum.

Thanks to cappadocius for the punchline, suggested online when I despaired of writer's block.

I was originally going to go with a standard four panels and something like this:

Panel 1:
Caption: South America 1937

Panel 2:
Haken: Ach, this jungle! The mosquitoes, the heat, the humidity, the endless hacking of the vegetation!

Panel 3:
Haken: Why did die Führer send us to this godforsaken place?!

Panel 4:
Haken: Erwin, remind me to pick up a piranha for his jar.

But I figured Haken was more loyal to the Nazi cause than that.
2012-06-02 Rerun commentary: National Museum of... Brazil? Venezuela? Belize? Guatemala?

South America, I guess.

I really like the dense jungle feel of this strip. Well, dense except for the white wall behind.
