2012-06-21 Rerun commentary: It's the first appearance of the cat that is to play a major part in the plot much later on. Notice the subtle hints at that here?

Okay, I had no idea at this point about that plot thread. But it's nice to imagine I did, no?

Also notice there are almost no actual trees in this so-called forest. The only LEGO trees I had are palm trees, which don't quite fit a French forest. You can just see one in panel four, lurking in the background. Near the blank white background that's also very un-forest-like.
