Comic #2279

1 Alvissa: Kyros! But... but... the Balrog!
1 Kyros: Yeah, yeah. Not a problem.
2 Alvissa: How do you keep doing that?
3 Kyros: I unmake the universe, then remake it the same, but with the Balrog dead.
4 Alvissa: Uh...
4 Kyros: It's too complicated for your non-wizard mind to comprehend. {Balrog stands behind Kyros, where he can't see it}

I suspect wizards are kind of like the category theorists of pseudo-medieval fantasy settings.

On a slightly different note, if you want to see the ultimate in self-deprecating mathematical fields, try pointless topology.

2022-03-20 Rerun commentary: For lovers of futile and inconsequential mathematics, there's also point-free geometry and irrelevant ideals.

Although honestly I feel like the people who named these made the same sort of mistake as whoever decided they should be called imaginary numbers.
