Comic #2435

1 Monty: {standing outside a field at night, guarded by Nazis} The zeppelins are guarded. How are we going to get on board one?
2 Prof. Jones: We impersonate German officers.
3 Monty: And how are we going to do that?
4 Prof. Jones: Simple. We speak English with a German accent. That should fool them!

Of course. Everyone knows foreign people speak English with foreign accents.

Of course. There's a trope on this.

2023-04-30 Rerun commentary: True story: I was fooled by a person speaking English with a German accent.

I'd landed at Berlin Airport and was trying to figure out which bus to take from the terminal to get to my hotel. I tried asking a man at an information stand and he said a whole bunch of stuff which I didn't understand. I had to interrupt and say that I didn't speak German. At which point he exclaimed, "I was speaking English!"

Yep, his German accent fooled me into thinking he was speaking German!
