Pope Clement XI is the fourth Pope to appear in Irregular Webcomic! He follows in the footsteps of Pope Pius XI, Pope Paul V, and Pope Urban VIII.
I can't be entirely sure, but I daresay this may be a record for the largest number of different Popes to appear in a webcomic.
The priest is referring to Newton's publication of his treatise on "the Reflexions, Refractions, Inflexions and Colours of Light": Opticks, in 1704.
