2013-05-18 Rerun commentary: Actually, nowadays even many computer nerds who are young enough won't know why this strip might be associated with a computer joke. If you're young enough not to know what a 486 is, then... well, now you know.

And as for the patience thing, I would later set much bigger records for number of strips required to set up a joke. I'm sure there were some jokes I thought of that took over 1000 strips to set up.
