1 Monty: Even if Ginny and Erwin aren’t at Abydos, someone there may have seen them. It’s the only lead we have.
2 Haken: We? Are you suggesting that we join forces to find them?
2 Emily: Beats getting shot.
3 Monty: Yes, I suppose we have to. To get the Crook of Osiris off them. And potentially save the world!
4 Haken: Ach. You had me right up to the motivation.

Sometimes I write a comic and the script remains unchanged right through to publication.

Sometimes not so much. In this strip, I changed every line in the first three panels during the assembly phase. Only Haken's final line got through untouched.

The changes:

• The opening line was originally: "It's the only lead we have. Even if they aren't at Abydos, someone may have seen Ginny and Erwin there." You'll notice that the important information-containing phrases are reversed in order. I often write strips immediately after the previous strip, and the context is fresh in my mind. The original wording makes more sense if you have just read the previous strip in the theme. But then during production I notice that it's better to re-establish the context. So that happened again here. I didn't need to add any information, just rearrange it a bit to make it easier to understand.
• For Haken's first line, I added the "We?" at the beginning. I think this stresses Haken's incredulity more, and also underscores that it's the word "we" that triggered this particular response.
• Emily's line wasn't in the script at all. I added it because there was space and I thought a snide side comment would be amusing.
• For Monty's final line all I changed was to italicise the final words for extra emphasis and to make it more obvious that that bit is the motivation that Haken is referring to in the punchline.
