Comic #1109

1 Iki Piki: Oh man. I can't believe Paris is finally really dead this time. I think we need another funeral, to say goodbye properly.
2 Spanners: But we have no body.
2 Serron: We can clone one!
3 {silent beat}
4 Iki Piki: Sounds reasonable.
4 Spanners: I'll get right on it.

It's the obvious answer, isn't it? You have a DNA sample, you want a body so you can have a proper funeral... make one!

Oh, yeah, there might be some pesky ethical considerations somewhere. Those things always get in the way.

2015-05-19 Rerun commentary: If anyone in the future ever tries to market this idea for funerals for missing people, remember you heard it here first.

Another disadvantage with the starfield window method used in these old strips is that the colour of the light doesn't appear in the set. With such a red nebula outside (the Orion nebula), you'd expect the interior of the ship to have a reddish cast, but that just doesn't happen when the background is pasted in later in Photoshop. I suppose I could have adjusted the colour of the foreground, but I never thought of that - until just now.
