This particular Death appeared in #268 and #271. He's not the same as our old friend Death of Insanely Overpowered Fireballs/Being Sat on by a Giant Frog. If anything, he's a rival.

Oh, and you might notice the Head Death's floor is now a nice endless expanse of LEGO^®, rather than just the top of my desk like it was before. I bought a cool new extra-large grey baseplate just for that effect, so I hope you appreciate it.

2012-09-17 Rerun commentary: Woohoo! The Infinite Featureless Plane of Death finally got renovated to the familiar featureless grey expanse we all know and love.

The Plane would not, however, be referred to as infinite and featureless until the annotation to strip #327. It would not be referred to as the "infinite featureless plane of Death" within a strip transcript (and then only in a descriptive note) until strip #498. And no character in the comic would actually say "infinite featureless plane of Death" until way, way in the future in strip #1273.

Wow, writing rerun annotations is cool. I can refer to strips I haven't written for another three years!
