2014-09-04 Rerun commentary: Whenever you see the part of the wall where there should be a door, you actually just see the corridor outside Ishmael's dorm room, on the assumption that the door is wide open. Presumably he closes the door at times, but this was never shown in the comic because I didn't have a lot of good choices for doors in my LEGO collection.

You'll notice the door to Steve's house, which is shown quite a bit, is transparent, as if made of glass. This was on the assumption that there's an inner door made of wood which is left open during the day. This sort of double door isn't really appropriate for a dorm room opening into a corridor, so poor Ishmael gets no door at all.
