If you haven't heard about the Large Hadron Collider, you've probably not been surfing the Internet for the past few months. In particular, there have been various scaremongering rumours about the safety of the experiments (or lack thereof) to be performed at the LHC. CERN itself has a public relations page addressing these concerns.
But nowhere has anyone said anything about this possible consequence...
And as far as I know, the LHC hasn't destroyed the universe yet.
