Comic #1107

1 {scene: The Galactic Republic Senate. Palpatine and Anakin sit watching an antigravity water ballet.}
1 Palpatine: Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life...
2 Palpatine: He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying...
3 Anakin: Is it possible to learn this power?
3 Palpatine: Not from a Jedi...
4 Anakin: So... I should join the Dark Side because it has a good health plan?
4 Palpatine: And flexible working hours.

Although it only appears on screen for about 3 seconds in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, I found the water ballet thingy in this scene to be striking and fascinating. I also found that I couldn't find any images of it on the web, so I had to do a screencap of it myself to stick into the background of panel 1 here.

The Galactic Republic Senate chamber is tough to build from Lego bricks because (a) it's so round and (b) it's so big.

And the final bit of pointless trivia for today: I posed these shots with Anakin and Palpatine sitting on opposite sides of each other and the camera pointing in from the left. Then when I watched the scene to get the screencap of the water ballet, I saw they were the other way around, and that the camera angle was from the right of Anakin. Thankfully, a simple reflection of the photos corrected both of these to match the movie better.

2015-05-16 Rerun commentary: A quick search now found a screencap that would have been useful for this comic, if only it had existed at the time, on this Wookieepedia page.

(waits for people's brains to fail when they see the title of that linked page...)

One wonders what would happen if the antigravity whatever making the water form a sphere like that had failed. Presumably the Galaxies Opera House on Coruscant not only has a fire evacuation plan, but one for flooding as well.
