2021-05-08 Rerun commentary: So after the previous all-white strip, we have some action here, albeit highly minimal.

Perhaps the most interesting thing I can say about this is that I used the PNG image file format for these strips which are just blocks of colour, as it's more efficient and higher quality than using JPEG, which is the format I normally use for comics, because it's much better at compressing photographs. This doesn't actually make all that much difference visually, but it's just neater and more pleasing for someone concerned with back end efficiency.

One unforeseen upshot though is that the web page and database script that I use to add annotations can't display the strip to me while I write the rerun notes - because I hardcoded a ".jpg" into it. The first time I started writing rerun notes on the previous strip I got a broken image icon instead, and it took me a few minutes to work out what had gone wrong.

It's not a huge deal though, and so very few of my comics are not JPEGs that it's not worth my time to fix it. Especially in a web interface that none of you will ever see.
